The Handiham Remote Base
station,
W0EQO, is on line. One user has reportedly been having success
working DX with it. Plans are in the works for another remote base,
so that we can accommodate more users. If you wish, you can connect
to W0EQO-L through your Echolink computer application and listen to the Remote
Base, and even control the frequency & mode by typing your receiver
commands into the text box and pressing the <Enter> key.
Example: 10 <enter> will change the frequency to 10 MHz, and you
should hear WWV. Press the letter A to change to AM mode. Press L or
U for Lower or Upper sideband. Enter 3.925 to go to 3.925 MHz.
Enter the letter L <Enter> to change to lower sideband, which is
used on 75 meters. If a control operator is using the station, the system
will not let you change the frequency via EchoLink, but you can still
listen. You will not hear the transmissions from the remote base in that
case, just the receiver.

The first release of the
Technician question pool effective July 1 2010 is now on line as modified by George
LaValle, N0SBU.
It is modified to show only the correct answers. Any
or our student members who are planning to take the Technician exam after June
30, 2010 should study from the new question pool. This is also a wake-up call
for those of you who have not been studying regularly - the Technician test and
all the study materials change on July 1, so get busy if you want to pass using
the old question pool!
