Elmer Blog

Many of our loyal Handiham e-letter subscribers and podcast listeners know me from my occasional comments in those fine publications. Now I have been given my own blog, whatever that might turn out to be, on the Handiham website. I will be able to stand high on my soapbox and pontificate loudly about anything and everything regarding ham radio. Whoopee.

Some of you write to me with your questions, which I am sometimes actually about to answer. If you want to, you may write me, but hold off for a bit while I get my email address straightened out. If you just can't wait, send your question to Pat, wa0tda@arrl.net, who has agreed to pass your messages on to me. Danged computers.

Now, some of you may wonder about my name, which is just "Elmer". In ham radio, a person with more ham radio experience who helps a newcomer out in the hobby is called "an Elmer". That's what I do - help newbies get answers to their questions.

Anyone, even the longest-licensed ham radio operator, may not know the answer to something or other and may need to ask someone else for help. You are never to old to ask a question and to learn about new stuff.

So we will see where this blog goes. Maybe I will become one of the world's greatest ham radio philosophers or something. Hey, it could happen!
